Think you’ve mastered the art of the perfect G&T? Put your taste buds to the test at Never Never Distilling Co. and StrangeLove Tonic’s ‘The Great Aussie G&T Off’ this Adelaide Cup long weekend.
After the overwhelming success of last year’s sell-out event, ‘The Great Aussie G&T Off’ will return in 2025 to Never Never’s stunning distillery in McLaren Vale. For one day only, experience this stunning venue transformed into the ultimate playing ground, where you can sample some of the best gin concoctions and cocktails on offer.
Each year, the team brings together some of the most exceptional and inventive G&T creations from top cocktail minds across the country to battle it out on the great lawns of Chalk Hill. However, this year, Never Never has switched up the format to create a more ‘internal’ challenge when it comes to the drinks on offer.
“Each year we like to change it up a bit,” says Sean Baxter, Co-Founder and Brand Director at Never Never Distilling Co.
“In the last six months we’ve hired some incredible brand ambassadors who have previously worked at some of Australia’s finest cocktail bars.
“We thought what better opportunity to see what they are capable of then pitting them against one another in a fight to the death, four enter, only one remains,” says Sean.
These brand ambassadors are the ultimate pros, having worked in some of Australia’s top bars. With experience in some of Australia’s top bars—including Black Pearl and Bulletin Place in Sydney, Gin Palace in Victoria, Hains & Co in Adelaide, and Frog’s Hollow in Brisbane—you’re sure to be in good hands.
“It will be a battle of the states, with G&Ts that feature everything from Cyclone iceblocks to ‘Sydney Harbour’ blue curacao vibes. We’re here for the party drinks this summer and that’s what we’re promising.”
On the day, drinks will be judged by the attendees. Each attendee will have the chance to vote for their favorite drink, with the winner earning a spot on the venue’s specials board.
“We will make it fun, we will make it outrageous, but most of all we make it delicious,
“Yuzu and Oyster Shell Gin, Ginache and Spiced Pineapple, Gin and Ginger? We’ve got something for everyone’s taste, as long as you enjoy delicious drinks,” says Sean.
These drinks will be served from the gin bar on Never Never’s lawns, surrounded by the white-picket festivities of a classic garden party. Not only will attendees be able to judge these creations, but also sample a selection of Never Never and StrangeLove tonic and soda combinations.
As with every long weekend up the hill, you can count on incredible live music from crowd-favourite DJ Tommy Tequila, fun lawn games, gin flights, refreshing gin cocktails, and mouthwatering Italian street food from Cucina Di Strada.
Tickets will be available for two two-hour sessions at either 12pm or 2pm. Your ticket grants access to the G&T lawn, three gin and tonics from the event menu, a goody bag (valued at $40) to continue your gin adventure at home, and an exclusive Never Never Distilling Co. retail discount.
