The Edinburgh Hotel & Cellar’s sell out annual event the Great Shiraz Challenge is BACK, inviting patrons to a jam-packed celebration that makes up the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest Shiraz-dedicated event.
With as many as 200 wines showcased throughout the day, the popular event, which took a COVID-19 induced hiatus in 2020, will run for the first time over two sessions, a morning session from 10:30 – 1:30pm and an afternoon session from 2:30pm which has already sold out.
An impressive marquee has been built in the Mitcham venue’s spacious carpark which will be host to some of the the country’s best Shiraz producers, with tickets being sold at $65pp which will grant access to tasting samples and live music from jazz band the George Griffiths Trio, as well as a take-home complimentary wine glass.
A selection of a tasty finger food such as beef sliders and cheese plates will also be available to guests.
This is the 27th year of the guaranteed sell-out event which will see the venue welcoming as many as 1000 patrons throughout the day, so make sure you get in there early for the last remaining tickets for the morning session.
Visitors will also receive a discount on wines to purchase from the cellars, as well as a chance to cast their vote in the best under $30 and over $30 wine categories, with one lucky winner taking home 100 bottles of wine on the day.
Inside the Edinburgh Hotel restaurant there are hearty pub classics on offer such from ribeyes to schnitzels, as well as a cosy winter marquee that went up in the venue’s popular beer garden at the beginning of June.
The live music entertainment will continue into the beer garden with two acts on throughout Sunday’s event, entertaining guests throughout the day.
