A massive day of live music and environmental action is coming to the Mid Coast this August, with Daybed Records and Breathe Easy teaming up for a unique event that combines native revegetation and an epic all-ages gig.
Taking over the Port Noarlunga Arts Centre on Saturday, August 8th, the event will bring together some of Australia’s most exciting indie and garage rock acts, including Melbourne favourites The Grogans, Drunk Mums, King Jeff & The How Are Yous and local act STELLAR.
The one-day celebration will kick off in the early afternoon with a special revegetation session at Moana Sands Conservation Park, giving locals the chance to get their hands dirty while learning about the importance of restoring South Australia’s coastal landscapes.
Run by the Breathe Easy crew, the planting afternoon will include acoustic live sets, food and plenty of local knowledge, with only 50 spots available for those wanting to take part.
The Moana Sands planting session will focus on introducing fire-wise native grasses that play an important role in stabilising soil, supporting local wildlife habitats and helping improve fire resilience across the dunes.
The project brings together local conservation and creative communities, with Coastal Conservation Officer Corey Jackson, Kanyanyapilla’s Karl Winda Telfa and Daybed Records joining forces to celebrate the environment, great music and local stories.
After the afternoon planting session wraps up, the crew will move to the Port Noarlunga Arts Centre from 7pm for what organisers are calling their biggest line-up at the venue yet.
Local independent label Daybed Records has become a champion of the Mid Coast’s music scene, supporting emerging artists and creating opportunities for locals to experience live music close to home.
The partnership between Daybed Records and Breathe Easy has been created around bringing together music, art, environmental conservation and community. Breathe Easy Revegetation Projects combines tree planting with live music and community events, encouraging people to connect with nature while helping restore native bushland across Australia.
With limited tickets available for the planting component and a stacked evening line-up, organisers are encouraging locals to get in early.
Tickets are $65 plus a booking fee for either the gig or the combined planting afternoon and gig experience, with planting spots strictly limited to 50 people.
