Funk Soul Productions will open the South Australian premiere of the hilarious musical, The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals at the Goodwood Theatre and Studios this week.
Everything in the town of Hatchetfield seems normal until people began singing… Then, they began dancing… And now, a musical pandemic is sweeping the entire city. It’s up to Paul (an average guy who doesn’t like musicals) and his eccentric group of friends to stop this musical apocalypse and fight for humanity’s future. It’s a story filled with dark humour, drama and a little bit of romance and a little bit of gore, something that even the Paul’s of Adelaide will love!
The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals is a horrifying comedy musical from StarKid Productions, the creators of A Very Potter Musical, Twisted, and Holy Musical B@man!
Funk Soul Productions is a small company of emerging Adelaide performers that believe in creating theatre for young people by young people. The ethos of our group is to create an environment for emerging artists to explore performing arts with hands-on, industry-level experience. As young people, they understand the need for challenging the perception of modern theatre, including making it more engaging and accessible in a world in which interest in theatre sadly appears to be slowly declining.
After establishing Funk Soul Productions in 2023 and producing two successful Shakespeare adaptations in the Adelaide Fringe, their passionate producers are expanding into musical theatre and are incredibly honoured to stage this internet-famous production for the first time in South Australia.
Directed by Teagan Garvey, musically directed by Immi Beattie and choreographed by Alicia Angeles The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals features a brilliant cast of up-and-coming South Australian artists: Amelia Baldock (Femme. Swing), Immi Beattie, Samuel Cannizzaro, Henry Cook (Masc. swing), Teagan Garvey, Gracie Greenrod, Harry Liam, Parisya Mosel, Neve Sargeant, Anna Symonds and Flynn Turley.
The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals will be performed at The Goodwood Theatre and Studios from January 31 to February 8, 2025. This production contains adult themes, strong language and is recommended for audiences 15+.
