The Henry Austin Are Now Delivering Chef Cooked Lunches Across Adelaide

Hundreds of beautiful Tiffin Tins have arrived at The Henry Austin as chef Shane Wilson prepares to send his meals far and wide across Adelaide. Here’s how to get on his delivery list.

What can $15 get you nowadays? Not much if you’re thinking food. And certainly not anything decent, that’s delivered straight to your office and cooked by an executive chef. Well actually, that’s exactly what the latest brainwave from The Henry Austin team is all about.

A Tiffin Tin is more common to the subcontinent, where cyclists will deliver a regular meal to those who pay to ‘lease’ the Tin from the restaurant who owns it. It’s a daily service, whereby the Tin is collected empty and returned full, often with delicious curries from a local kitchen. It’s a service which helps feed a huge number of people delicious food at an affordable cost and it extends the community of the kitchen beyond the stove top.

Well, The Henry Austin don’t serve curry (currently, let’s not sure it out for the future just yet), but as of this week they will be providing Adelaide’s first ever Tiffin Tin service within the CBD. You pay $15 to rent the tin (a glorious little thing, no plastic or styrofoam wastage here), and then $15 for you daily delivery of chef prepared delights.

A new mouthwatering meal every day.

The first round of Tiffin Tin meals are already going out across Adelaide.

They’ve gone all out in the first week with succulent twelve hour slow cooked Pork and beef brisket with all the trimmings and vegetables the first dishes served, and no doubt chef Shane Wilson will be using the Tins to test and reveal new creations. Yes, delivery is a part of the fee. Yes, you’ll receive it all by bicycle. No, you don’t have to look up from your computer.

Alongside the recent New York style back alley servery by Bistro Dom, this is another exciting step forward for lunch service in Adelaide. It’s not quite a new invention like the consignment cellar at The Henry Austin, but a bold bet that Adelaide loves it’s food, loves service that’s personable and personal, and has a good network of bike lanes. Sounds like it’s ticking all the boxes.

Secure your very own Tiffin Tin by contacting The Henry Austin via their Facebook page or at 29 Chesser St and never eat a crap store sandwich for lunch again.
