SALT Festival returns to Coffin Bay this month

The inaugural SALT Festival is back for another incredible 10 days of events this April!

Have you been contemplating a trip to the stunning Southern Eyre Peninsula? Well, we’ve got the perfect excuse for you to make that trip this month! SALT Festival is back for another incredible 10 days of events.

Established in 2017, SALT Festival has become a launch pad for creativity, innovation and ideas. SALT is the Eyre Peninsula’s biggest festival, with the 10-day event set on the foreshore of Coffin Bay, offering is a great mix of both action and relaxation.

Event Co-ordinator, Nic Conway, is incredibly excited to bring this event to life after a difficult few years of Covid restrictions.

“This is our 6th year of SALT Festival and each year it gets bigger and better, we should be used to it by now but the amount of support we receive and the crowds we draw in stuns us every year,” Nic said.

“This event is special in many ways, from the number of events that take place within the festival to the vast array of talented individuals that fly over every year to participate and watch on, the stunning Coffin Bay truly comes alive during this event.”

This annual festival showcases a mix of local, national and international acts, with everything from music, cabaret, hypnosis, seafood feasts and workshops, including the incredible Baylight event.

Baylight is a 3-day event within the SALT Festival that features an immersive light display called STORM which incorporates live music, outdoor dining, bars and more, all set along the beautiful foreshore of Coffin Bay. This event is a feast for all senses.

“Baylight is a transformative, phenomenal experience. The light show simulates a ferocious storm, and the combination of light and music makes for an out-of-body experience, this year’s music features Josh Pyke, Chelsea Ellway and The B-Sides and The Brass Souls, the most incredible lineup we’ve had yet!”

A new unique experience that is coming to the SALT Festival is a virtual dive of the Great Southern Reef. This is a totally immersive experience for all ages. Put on a pair of VR goggles and swim with the marine life of the ‘Great Southern Reef’.

Through this experience, you will swim with every local ocean creature, from the colourful giant Australian cuttlefish to friendly sea lions, sea dragons and even Port Jackson sharks. Marvel at the hyper-realistic virtual dive in some of South Australia’s iconic marine park locations, with some of the footage filmed on the Eyre Peninsula.

“The VR Experience is set to be a hit, it’s a unique adventure where everyone can explore the reef and all of its adorable inhabitants. It also provides a space where the little ones can learn more about our surrounds and the marine life that is unique to this part of the world.”

The SALT Festival is set to bring thousands of people to the stunning Southern Eyre Peninsula, a huge win for local tourism in and around Coffin Bay.
