Live music has always been a drawcard of SkyCity Adelaide, particularly following the epic expansions to their collection of venues over the last few years. The District is the the jewel in their live music cap, with a jam-packed line up drawing in regular crowds to the CBD hub. As SkyCity’s ultimate entertainment venue, and home to Pirate Life Brewing, the coming months will see plenty of exciting events, but for Queen fans, Thursday February 9th is the date to pencil in.
Australia’s longest-running Queen tribute show, The Killer Queen Experience, is headed to Adelaide, and is set to explode on the stage at The District for one night only.
The signature 2-hour live show ‘The Killer Queen Experience’ has toured to sold out shows in the UK, Norway, Singapore, Russia, and India, and every city in Australia, and shared billing with the likes of Jeff Beck, Foreigner, Journey, Twisted Sister, Thin Lizzie, and Kelly Rowland.
Kicking off at 8pm, this show will feature Queen’s greatest hits, including – Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Somebody To Love, Radio Ga Ga, Another One Bites The Dust, and more songs that will bring a smile (or a tear) to any Queen fan.
Lead singer John Blunt is renowned worldwide for his uncanny resemblance to Freddie Mercury, which will transport you back in time. He even played Mercury in the 2016 UK biopic “The Freddie Mercury Story – Who Wants To Live Forever”. John was also cast as Freddie Mercury in the Australian movie Seriously Red (2021), starring Rose Byrne. He has appeared regularly on shows like Studio 10 and The Today Show (watch the interviews), and is even mentioned on Freddie Mercury’s Wikipedia page.
As for the show, there’s something about the meticulous attention to detail – the instruments, the costumes, the mannerisms, and true musicians – that stirs an emotional response in the people who head along to ‘The Killer Queen Experience’.
