It is officially Truffle Season in Australia, and to celebrate the rich and luxurious fungi, The Kitchen at SkyCity Adelaide will offer a limited-time menu from July 2nd to July 28th. Alongside their popular daily offerings, the exclusive menu will feature dishes designed to showcase the rare and wonderful truffle.
Truffles, known for their intense umami and earthy taste, are among some of the most sought-after delicacies in the world. They are known for being particularly difficult to grow, often relying on special conditions and trained animals to harvest them from underground.
“It takes just the right first conditions for them to grow, maintaining that environment is everything and the producers we’re working with are among the best,” SkyCity Adelaide’s Head Chef Kel Delaney said.
The exclusive Truffle Season menu, crafted by Delaney and her team at The Kitchen, will feature four dishes that showcase the Australian Winter Truffle. From whole truffles, to shaved, emulsified, and infused, the spotlight will be shining directly on… truffle.
For entree, they will offer a Beef tartare with pickled shimeji mushrooms and truffle cream. There will be two different mains of lobster linguini with truffle butter, or a beef tenderloin paired with Jerusalem artichoke and truffle. And for dessert, they’ll be serving up a truffle honey panna cotta served with madeleines.
Ever wondered what truffle might taste like in a cocktail? We hadn’t either, until now. To compliment any dish from either their exclusive or regular menu, diners can enjoy one of their signature cocktails crafted specially for Truffle Season. These options include a martinis made with truffle-infused green olive gin, and a truffle topped amaretto espresso martini.
For lovers of The Kitchen’s regular menu, there will be the option to add freshly shaved truffle to any dish, ensuring that every bite is infused with luxury and flavour. This opportunity allows dinners to elevate classics like ricotta and pine nut gnocchi, or The Kitchen’s celebrated dry-aged steaks to a whole new level.
