South Australia’s newest multi genre immersive performance space, The Lab has added yet another string to its bow with the announcement of a cutting-edge classical music series, Interlude.

Interlude, will showcase Australia’s most acclaimed classical virtuosos against a mesmerising digital backdrop in the intimacy of Light Square based venue, The Lab. The new series will launch on Wednesday, 31 March at 7pm with an exclusive performance from renowned duo, Slava & Sharon Grigoryan.

The series will continue on a regular basis with sets from the likes of Belinda Gehlert and Adelaide Youth Orchestra.

According to The Lab’s Head of Programming, Anne Wiberg Interlude is a new and accessible way of experiencing classical music.

“This is classical music for the modern era. Moving away from traditional performance spaces, this program will pair some of our finest classical artists with state-of-the-art technology and art. We are excited by what is set to evolve here”, Wiberg explains.

The Lab, which sits within South Australia’s newest arts and hospitality hub, Light is rejuvenating Adelaide’s west end precinct.

With its $10m redevelopment, Light is creating new opportunity for the performing arts and hospitality sectors through immersive performance in The Lab, world class dining in Aurora and locally inspired hospitality experiences in Little Mission and Beags.

According to co-founder Nick Dunstone Light is committed to delivering art experiences that push boundaries for artists and audiences alike.

“Our investment in Light and spaces such as The Lab is about creating art that inspires and creates a benchmark for the future. Programs like Interlude create accessibility to genres of music that play an important role in our cultural fabric.

“We are thrilled by the calibre of artists The Lab is already attracting. We invite audiences to discover new experiences and immerse themselves in everything that is Light.”

Since its February launch The Lab has already played home to an array of artists and the acclaimed Adelaide Fringe season of The Deep North.
