The surprise Australian comedy hit of 2009, The Marriage Of Figaro, will be released nationally on DVD and on iTunes from the 25th of August 2010. Audiences across Australia are expected to embrace the heartwarming comedy following its successful cinema release in October 2009.
"The Marriage Of Figaro was very popular with audiences who sought the film out in its limited release. When I wrote The Marriage of Figaro, I had in mind ordinary Aussies who watch films to be entertained, like Fig and his family would. We are very happy that more people are going to be able to enjoy it now through its DVD release" said writer and director, Chris Moon.
This charming film tells the story of kindhearted but reckless Aussie biker ‘Fig', who loves his partner Sheree, (played by Jacqueline Cook), his two kids and his Harley Davidson. All in all life is pretty sweet, until Sheree puts the pressure on him to get married and everything goes pear-shaped. A traffic cop, a lingerie model, and his bucks night, can’t stop Fig from getting to altar in one piece. But he still has to prove to Sheree that his heart is in the right place, even if his head occasionally isn’t.
"The Marriage Of Figaro is the quintessential little Aussie battler success story. It was made with a lot of love by all involved, for a specific audience and achieved great success in its limited release. Its success came down to the level of support from the people of Australia who really warmed to its humour and good heart. The cast and crew and I are very proud of what we have achieved and hope to achieve in the upcoming DVD release – so watch out, the 'sleeper' is wakening again" said Peta Astbury, The Marriage Of Figaro Producer.
Australian Film Syndicate, headed by Allanah Zitserman, who will be distributing this comedy, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to bring this film to a wider national audience. It’s funny, fresh and charming- a true Aussie gem. We can’t wait for more Australians to discover it on DVD”.
The Marriage Of Figaro will initially be available to rent at major outlets including Blockbuster, Video Ezy, Network Video, Civic Video and Leading Edge Video and on iTunes from 25 August 2010. The DVD will be on sale from 19 November in major retailers nationally.
