The McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic is a great family day out happening this weekend, celebrating vintage and classic motoring. It’s a fantastic mix of food, wine, music and the arts together with the energy and passion of motoring enthusiasts. The event offers the visitor exquisite tastes of the McLaren Vale region’s world-class wines, tantalising gourmet food and classic motor vehicles of a bygone era.
While it’s a much-loved event for car lovers, there’s another aspect of the event you may not be as familiar with, and that’s the fashion.
The 15th McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic is set to attract fifteen to twenty thousand spectators who will line the streets of McLaren Vale to view the parade of cars and motorcycles of yesteryear, set against a breathtaking backdrop of wineries and vineyards.
Drivers, passengers, and spectators are encouraged to dress from the same era their vehicle or favourite vehicle is from.
Judges will be on the lookout for great retro fashion, vintage clothing, classic style, and fun motor-enthusiast wear amongst the spectators on the main drag. There’s a great prize for best dressed spectator and a special one for best dressed child.
“Whether you’re a driver, passenger or spectator, we want to see you dressed-up in your favourite retro fashion from the 1920s to the 2000s,” said the event organisers.
“Join in the dress-up fun and you could win one of the many great prizes on offer.”
This is the third year there has been a dress up element to the event, incorporated by organisers to add an element of family fun.
As a spectator, to enter the fashion competition, you will have to text a photo of yourself in your outfit to 0420323732 between 8am and 12:30pm
The winners will be advised on the day and told where to collect their prizes from, with their photos to be shown off on the Vintage and Classic website and socials.
The event starts at 11am but spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure a park and a good spot.
The event is set to take place on Sunday April 18 on the Main Street of McLaren Vale, with select wineries hosting events after the initial parade.
