The Milk Bar. It was a place synonymous with the Australian summer and an iconic part of our cultural fabric.
Allow yourself to float into your childhood memories. The sweet smells, the friendly staff who’d say ‘G’day’ as you walked through the aisles of temptation. The original ‘mum-and-dad’ small business where you’d pop down before work for the newspaper, on the weekend for fish and chips, or after school for (too much) candy.
For a limited time only, the quintessentially Aussie Milk Bar has popped up in Norwood, proving to be a popular spot for cycling enthusiasts during the Santos Tour Down Under.

The Milk Bar is a dream collaboration, with Norwood bike shop Treadly teaming up with The Pedla and Brompton Australia to deliver this nostalgic haven nestled between Magill Road and the Parade.
In this vibrant, old-school environment, you can watch the race and chill out with Pana Organic Ice Cream and beverages by Wilde Guru, sparking with effervescent enlightenment. There’s also delicious plant-based coffee and toasties by the local team at Later Gator.
And that’s not all. Mood Racing, equal parts racing team and social club, will host group rides each day of varying lengths and locations. Rides include the Hammerhead Ride, which sees you on a winding adventure through the Adelaide Hills through Crafers and Carey Gulley; and Always Sunny Ride, which has you along the coast from Port Adelaide to Brighton before heading back to the Norwood base.

And if that sounds a bit serious for you, you can try the Brompton Ride, which takes you on a short 9km tour around the CBD, through the Santos Tour Down Under Village, before finishing at the park to watch Stage 3 with pizza and beverages.
Marcin Wojak, one of the founders of Pedla, says that the Milk Bar has been hugely popular with race enthusiasts.
“We’ve had heaps of people coming down to take photos, watch the race, and grab some refreshments. It’s such a great community feel” he said.
Be quick. The Milk Bar is only open for another week.
