In arguably one of the most iconic decades for fashion (think Naomi Campbell, Galliano and Sex and the City) Adelaide CBD shopping was changed forever when Rundle Mall favourite, the Myer Centre, opened its doors in June 1991.
Inspired by the ’90s pop culture it was born into, the shopping centre, that houses the largest Myer store in South Australia, is celebrating its 30th anniversary by hosting 10 days of epic festivities that will revisit the best of ’90s games, music and fashion.
Officially launching on the 4th of June, two fashion shows on the shopping centre’s ground floor will whisk guests into a frenzy of 90’s nostalgia, with trend favourites such as scrunchies, mom jeans and slip dresses set to storm the retro runway. Memorable throwback hits will also provide a fitting soundtrack throughout the evening.
Continuing the celebrations, retailers will be offering exclusive discounts and specials over the 10 days, with giveaways and prizes a-plenty, including a claw machine for shoppers to fish out vouchers for up to $150. Budding quiz masters known to nail their 90’s trivia will also have the chance to win a $1000 Myer Centre voucher by testing their knowledge of the decade’s biggest pop-culture moments.
And because shopping makes such thirsty work, Myer will be bringing all the shoppers to the yard with a vintage milkshake bar located on the ground floor, with free shakes for anyone spending over $50 in store.
Keep up with the Myer Centre’s celebrations here.
The Myer Centre can be found at 14/38 Rundle Mall.
