One of Ballet’s most iconic stories, The Nutcracker, is returning to Adelaide this November, bringing a world of wonder and magic to Her Majesty’s Theatre.
For more than a century, The Nutcracker has captivated audiences across the globe, with its flamboyant story, fabulous sets, and unforgettable score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Now, Adelaide audiences can get into the festive spirit as Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, and the Sugar Plum Fairy return to the stage.
From the very beginning, Tchaikovsky’s iconic overture is one that transports any audience into a magical Christmas Eve where toys come to life, snowflakes dance, and a brave Nutcracker Prince battles mischievous mice to protect Clara. With famed choreography and gorgeous costumes, a viewing of The Nutcracker is something that’ll stay with you for life.
This year’s run of The Nutcracker will all take place over three days in November at Her Majesty’s Theatre, in the heart of the CBD on Grote Street. This is a historic, and beautifully restored venue known for its combination of original, stunning heritage design and modern architecture. The theatre seats just shy of 1,500 people across three levels, making for a totally immersive viewing experience.
The Nutcracker is suitable for audiences of all ages, so it’s great for families, couples, or groups of friends looking to kick off the holiday season in spectacular style. Plus, BIG Live and Adelaide Festival Centre, the teams behind the performance, have made sure that this production is as accessible as it is magical. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and accessible tickets, including Companion Card bookings, are available online through Ticketek.
You’ll be able to catch these performances from November 26th to 28th. And whether it’s your first time seeing The Nutcracker or something you catch every year, this is one you won’t want to miss!
