One of our favourite three-day summer festivals is about to kick off in the Adelaide Hills over Australia Day weekend. Starting Friday 27th January, the Hills wine region will be buzzing with food and wine events to suit all tastes. Whether you’re interested in catching a blend of street art and wine at ‘The Piece Project’, looking for a long lunch overlooking a breathtaking vineyard or searching for a family-fun day, we’ve got the low down on where to be.

ArtWine Estate – Aperitivo at ArtWine – A celebration of Italy’s happiest hour! Kick start your Crush weekend with a glass of Prosecco and a traditional antipasti platter as you watch the sun set over the Mount Lofty Ranges. Cincin!

Mordrelle Wines and Red Cacao – A unique taste experience awaits for the chocolate and wine lover. Meet Argentinean winemaker Martin Moran from Mordrelle Wines and Red Cacao’s chocolatier Marcus Booth-Remmers. This is an exclusive opportunity to taste and match two great elements: chocolate and wine. Open 6.00pm-10.00pm

Petaluma – How about dinner with a view? Enjoy a three course regional dinner created by Comida Catering matched with Petaluma’s cool climate wines with the back drop of the gorgeous view from our deck. ArtWine Estate – Summer fun & Thai Street Food – Kitchen & Catering by Sam will join us once again to serve up their mouth-watering take on Thai street food while you play it cool with crisp whites, live tunes and lawn games. These are non-ticketed events. Purchase an official Spiegelau wine glass for $10 and enjoy FREE ENTRY at all non-ticketed events.

Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard – Chardy in the Vines Sunset – Choose from either dinner or lazy long lunch, celebrating 8 vintages with a menu curated by 2016 Chef of the Year, special guest speaker and vigneron walk and talk all things Chardonnay: the ubiquitous wine bares its soul in the terroir of Lenswood.

Paracombe Wines Breakfast & Lunch – Before all else… treat yourself to a gourmet breakfast at 9:30am
with a glass of Paracombe’s Pinot Noir Chardonnay sparkling. They’ll be serving locally smoked kassler, breakfast sausages, free range scrambled eggs, slow cooked tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms and a fresh fruit platter. Coffee and tea. $35.00 all inclusive.

Lunch will be served from 12.30pm – 5.00pm. You can expect oven roasted veg frittata, rack of lamb, free range
chicken paired with an indulgent Somerville Shiraz Chocolate Experience. Mains from $25.00. Full range of Paracombe wines by glass, bottle and cellar door sales. 

Petaluma: The Cool and The Spicy – Cool climate Petaluma white and red wines matched with Comida Catering’s Spanish fare. Dishes from $10. Wines from $8 per glass. Live music. Where 254 Pfeiffer Rd, Woodside. T 08 8339 9390. Open 11.00am-4.00pm Saturday.

Sidewood Estate at Maximilian’s – Play it cool and unwind with Sidewood on Saturday. DJs til late. Trophy winning wine and cider. A la carte dining and bar menus available. Kids’ activities and Sidewood’s infamous $2K Golf Challenge.

The Lane Vineyard Rosé & Croquet on the Lawns –  Play it cool and indulge in idyllic surrounds. Wine tasting in The Lane’s small batch winery with delicious aromatics on pour at the Rosé Bar. Tasty treats offered by our Two-Hatted kitchen. Lounge to an afternoon acoustic session on the lawns.

The Lane Vineyard Taste the Seasons – “Summer” – Join The Lane on the deck as the sun sets over Mt Lofty for a glass of Cuvée Helen, before retiring to the dining room to indulge in an elegant 7 course menu showcasing the best of the Adelaide Hills’ summer season. Open 6.30pm for 7.00pm start

Tomich Wines – Pony in the Vines – Set on the picturesque Tomich Vineyard lawns by the river’s edge, under the shade of tents and umbrellas, the Pony in the Vines event will have something on offer to please everyone in the family! This year they have partnered with Locavore Adelaide Hills for their delicious foods, and Equestrian SA Show Horse and Netball SA to bring you the best entertainment possible!

Sunday 29 January

Bird In Hand Winery – Enjoy a tantalizing culinary degustation by Chef de cuisine Carlos Astudillo, paired with back vintage wine showcasing Bird in Hand’s ‘Australian winery and winemaker of the year’ accolades. Want more flexibility? Celebrate wine and summer fun among breathtaking views, no bookings necessary. Enjoy pizzas, baguettes, charcuterie, cheese platters and other delights while sipping on your favourite Bird in hand wine. Small eats available all day.

Jericho Wines and Glen Ewin Estate – have teamed up to bring you a relaxing day on the lake. Live music, pork belly sliders, arancini, mushroom burgers, chocolate & raspberry brownies and more. Oh and of course, you’ll be able to enjoy the innovative Jericho wine range.

Mt Lofty House –  will be holding a Cluster Event (multiple wineries in one place) on our Volleyball Lawns (next to the tennis court) with

• Sew and Sew Wines
• Karrawatta Winery
• Plus microbrewery Prancing Pony will also have a pop up bar!

 

They will also have a spit roast with a real picnic feel for the day, with ice cream cart and also coffee carts there, with a sausage sizzle for the kids. Live music from Jazz It Up and lawn games will provide plenty of entertainment for everyone. AND to top it all off they’ve offered transfers should any guests require them (these must be pre-booked).

Nepenthe Wines – Calling all seafood lovers! Nepenthe are serving up fresh seafood and oysters from 1802 Oyster Bar and a selection of Argentinian BBQ. Be the first in the know with NEW wine releases and plenty of local tunes to carry you through the night.
