Annual panel discussion The Planet Talks is returning to WOMADelaide festival’s Frome Park Pavilion for a three-day forum on the world’s biggest and most topical issues, and the conversations surrounding them. The 2026 program features 18 speakers, including frontline voices, leaders, scientists, artists and activists, coming together to reimagine our way into new futures and create a better world.
The Planet Talks has been stimulating in-depth conversations about sustainability and the environment for over a decade – encouraging active participation from audience members – and this year, the forum will run from Saturday 7 March to Monday 9 March, with two key issues being discussed per day.
Saturday 7 March will see first see River Listening, an investigation into our relationship with rivers and the importance of protecting waterways. Then Ocean’s Calling, which focuses on the Southern Ocean, its historical narrative and current condition due to algal blooms, and encourages discussion on the future of our coasts.
Sunday 8 March will welcome Information Wars, an exploration of issues around public trust and disinformation, corporate influence and identity politics in a world that requires a united front for timely action. This will be joined by Brave New Futures, which will navigate the natural world while living in a digital age where technology seems to reign supreme.
Finally, on Monday 9 March, Wayfinding Climate Justice will provide a detailed look into Pacific peoples’ involvement with climate change, the global response, and how to move from words into action.
Plus, No One Left Behind will dive into discussions of Australia’s role and contribution towards a low-carbon future, and how our economy and society can be strengthened by change, rather than weakened.
