Spring has officially sprung and Future Entertainment is ecstatic to now officially confirm the rumours that New York punk/funk/rock pioneers, The Rapture, is the first band announced for the multi award winning Future Music Festival 2012! This is the first enchanting taste of what is destined to be an absolutely phenomenal line up of the most awe-inspiring bands and DJs, unrivaled production at the very best major event venues around the country – Future Music Festival is coming back bigger and better than ever in 2012!
We weren’t quite planning a Future Music Festival 2012 announcement so soon, but it appears that Luke Jenner, The Rapture’s enigmatic front man had other ideas! He clearly couldn’t contain his excitement about The Rapture’s inclusion on the festival and wanted to share the news with J Mag telling them: “It hasn’t been announced yet, but I think in March hopefully we’ll be back for Future. I don’t think I’m technically supposed to tell you that so let’s just keep that between you, me and the rest of Australia.” [Note from Future Entertainment: Ummmm…no you weren’t Luke, we even pinky-sweared on keeping it a secret…sheesh!], but we’re gonna forgive you because we too couldn’t wait to shout it from the roof tops and all is forgiven when you go on to gush to J Mag about your love for playing to your Australian fans, “Yeah, I can’t wait to get back. I mean Australia has kept me alive for the last 5 years and kept food on the table for me and my family. So I have a deep respect for Australia and the people and it’s just so much fun to play there.”
It will be just over a year since everyone’s favourite party band, The Rapture last graced Australian shores with their awesome live shows and they have become firm festival favourites' winning over the crowds at Parklife, Southbound and Falls Festival.
The AU Review sums up this sentiment by raving: “The New York-based band have created an indie-electro-rock juggernaut that draws upon everything from acid house to punk, funk and straight up rawk’n’roll. These boys blew the crowd away on the Parklife tour last year, living up to their reputation for being astronomically excellent live.” (29.11.10)
On September 2nd The Rapture released their new album ‘In The Grace of Your Love’ out now in Australia through Modular Recordings. It’s been five years since The Rapture completed work on their second album, ‘Pieces Of The People We Love’, and though it might sound strange, the half-decade that followed may in retrospect turn out to be the most productive and important of their career. Together with French producer Philippe Zdar (Phoenix, Beastie Boys, Chromeo) they have crafted and shaped a bold and jubilant album that sounds definitively and distinctly like The Rapture and no one else.
The unstoppable band will spend the remainder of 2011 on the road doing what they do best, performing to fans across Europe, the UK and the US, setting themselves up to kick out the jams in match-fit form for their loyal Australian fans at Future Music Festival 2012.
Be prepared to be blown away by the sounds of The Rapture – re-engaged and revitalized with a voice as clear as they ever had – how truly euphoric – just like the crowds at Future Music Festival 2012 will be when The Rapture take to the stage in March 2012!
