Kangaroo Island’s largest music festival is making a comeback this March, the lineup has just dropped and is booming with incredible artists that are set to make this event something special.
Multi-ARIA-winning alt-rockers The Rubens are set to co-headline a crazy lineup alongside Australian singer-songwriter Ross Wilson and the Peaceniks, the pair will be accompanied by artists such as Mell Hall and Nathan May.
The multi-ARIA award-winning headliners will be joined by some of the best musicians South Australia has to offer over the action-packed weekend: Mell Hall, Dusty Lee’s Blues Jam, Busseys, Bermuda Bay and Nathan May along with KI locals Xavier Wadsworth, Jacky Winter and Double Header who nabbed a spot on the festival’s main stage as winners of the ‘New Shoots Home Grown’ open mic competition.
Amid the devastation caused by the bushfires on Kangaroo Island last year, the dedicated community members have rallied together to create New Shoots as a way to raise funds to support their fellow Kangaroo Island residents and landowners who suffered from the fires.
New Shoots is a grassroots initiative organised by a local not-for-profit committee, East End Events Inc. The vision is to produce a world-class, annual event that attracts more than 3,500 people across Kangaroo Island and Australia by 2025, New Shoots has proven successful in gathering a lineup that is sure to attract crowds.
“Having a band of the calibre of The Rubens play on Kangaroo Island is very exciting and will encourage a younger demographic to sail over with SeaLink on the discounted fares, camp next to the venue and enjoy the weekend,” said East End Events Inc. Chair, Andy Gilfillan.
Festival goers will be excited to know that they will be able to indulge in local beverages on offer by Dudley Wines, KI Spirits, Tattoo Me Coolers hard seltzers and False Cape Wines. Along with a vast array of mouthwatering local food trucks including Squid Squad, Saigon Tuckerbox, Gypsea Wagin and more to be revealed closer to the date.
If you’re planning on staying late so that you can enjoy the musical lineup into the night or so that you can explore the island the next day, camping is available at the Penneshaw Golf Club, which is next to the festival site, between Friday the 24th of March and Sunday 26th of March for only $29 per person.
