Of the 100 judges who took part in Channel 7’s wildly popular All Together Now – The 100, only two were from SA: Ben Gillard and Charmaine Jones from Gospo Collective.

All Together Now – The 100, hosted by Julia Zemiro, airs its grand final episode this Sunday, where singers will be competing for $100,000 in prize money. The show has wowed audiences, contestants and judges alike, with its positive mood and heartwarming stories.

Charmaine and Ben, the co-directors of Gospo Collective, say being part of All Together Now, where singing contestants try to impress 100 judges including Ronan Keating,  has been “great fun” with egos and negative comments downplayed and the emphasis rightly on the performers.

Charmaine Jones, a music conductor, arranger and composer, applauded the show for providing people with a platform to sing.

“Singing is a joyous experience but music can also teach us a lot about ourselves,” Charmaine says.

“The contestants were from all walks of life, some were good and some not so much but they were singing from their hearts and that’s what was good about it,” says Ben.

The pair say they are looking to carry the momentum of this experience into preparations for their 2019 Adelaide Fringe show, Jackson vs Jackson, which earned five-star reviews and sold out shows at this year’s Adelaide Fringe.

Charmaine established Gospo Collective vocal ensemble in 2009 and the group has since forged a reputation Australia-wide for its unique contemporary sound that melds styles as diverse as hip hop and gospel music.

Jackson vs Jackson celebrates the music of superstars Michael and Janet Jackson in a performance which blends Gospo’s signature gospel style with pop hits such as Billie Jean, Thriller and The Way You Make Me Feel.

They’ll also be exploring potential collaborations with some of the entertainers they’ve met on the set of All Together Now, exposing their Gospo community to new talents and ultimately treating audiences to new work.

“We have taken our production to a new level and added in more of the favourites that Jackson fans of any age will know and love, adding our signature choral/gospel style to them to give it the Gospo twist,” Charmaine says.

Gospo will be performing at the Adelaide City Council’s Lighting of the Christmas Tree event in Adelaide on December 1.

Their Fringe show, Jackson vs Jackson, will be at Gluttony from February 19 to March 17, 2019.

Be sure to catch this superstar pair there!
