The SandBAR is returning for the 2024/25 summer at Christies Beach but in a new location, about 1km down the beach. The exclusive venue will showcase local craft beers, locally made wine, spirits, and live entertainment.

The popular seasonal venue has run for four consecutive years. Owned and operated by brothers Dylan and Daniel Ellis, alongside husband and wife duo Tim and Jessica Stewart, the SandBAR is known for bringing the vibes to Christies Beach!

Tim says the different location offers new views with the same always popular food and drink offerings.

“It’s like a slice of the Mediterranean, here in our backyard,” Tim said.

The SandBAR is all about having a relaxed and chilled-out time, connecting guests to the water and reimagining what beach days and evenings are traditionally like. While you can dip your toes in the sand, you can enjoy equally breathtaking sunsets while having a drink and enjoying ocean views.

“It feels like an endless Summer. I’m from Goolwa and it takes me back to when I was 18 and 19 and we would cruise around in vans with surfboards, you’d be up at the crack of dawn and you wouldn’t stop until midnight,” he says.

The SandBAR also serves as a hub for local trade and tourism, ensuring the vibrant energy of Christies Beach remains alive and bustling.

“The wineries, breweries, and distilleries we partner with sponsor community groups and teams and the money stays in the community, and everyone can help each other out,” Tim says.

Tim says he loves working with the locals because he can interact directly with the people behind these breweries and distilleries, which makes the experience more personalised and memorable.

The SandBAR exudes a relaxed, chilled-out vibe with the perfect combination of live acoustic music and panoramic ocean views. And while you can dip your toes in the sand, you can enjoy equally breathtaking sunsets from the cliffs, just 50 meters from the water’s edge.

“You get the best sunsets, I don’t know what it is about Christies Beach, but I’ve never seen such a consistently good sunset anywhere else,” Tim says.

The outdoor venue is set up from scratch each Summer, with everything from the furniture, sound systems, bar tables, and barrels being set up exclusively for those three months.

Feeling peckish? Across the street, Flava Cafe will provide table service with QR code ordering systems. Seaside Spits, a local Yiros and fish and chip shop, will also serve its delights straight from the SandBAR.

And if you’re opting for a non-alcoholic evening, there are ample alcohol-free options to choose from.

The best bit? No reservations are needed, you can just walk in. So, if you’re looking to experience the true essence of summer, make sure to stroll into the SandBAR and let the good times roll.

The team behind the popular summer bar is also gearing up to launch LandBAR soon, a destination for delicious drinks and good vibes at Christies Beach, keeping SandBar alive year-round.

Located at 15 Beach Road, SandBAR’s sibling LandBAR will provide a permanent spot operating that will cater to both locals and tourists seeking a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
