Popular 70s retro lunch spot Chicken & Pig opens second CBD location

Extra Chicken Salt has closed its doors on its Adelaide CBD location, making way for a new go-to brunch and lunch spot – Chicken and Pig.

Extra Chicken Salt has closed its doors on its Adelaide CBD location, making way for a new go-to brunch and lunch spot – Chicken and Pig.

Adelaide Restauranteur Peter De Marco is credited for creating some of Adelaide’s most popular dining spots. Now, the man behind Borsa and Chicco Palms in Brooklyn Park is now launching his second location of Chicken and Pig.

This new Chicken and Pig location will take over the once Extra Chicken Salt storefront on the corner of Currie and Peel Streets.

Set to serve up delicious and creative meals in their woodfire oven and specialising in local and fresh produce as well as clean eating and slow-cooked meals – this new location is set to be just as big of a hit as their first location on Pirie Street.

“Covid took a toll on most businesses in the area, and unfortunately it put our Extra Chicken Salt store in a bad position that we haven’t been able to come back from,” Owner Peter De Marco explained.

“Although the doors are closing on Extra Chicken Salt, we are excited to explore this new venture with Chicken and Pig and we look forward to hearing the response to this new location,”.

The new Chicken and Pig location will be quite similar to Extra Chicken Salt’s venue, keeping with the same retro 70’s vibe, De Marco and his team wanted this store to be similar to the previous but with its own unique flare.

“Keeping in line with the previous store’s retro vibe, we’ve been able to expand this new location creatively and as a result, we have been able to create an incredible space. The store is open for takeaway and dine-in, allowing visitors to enjoy their meals in the restaurant for the first time at Chicken and Pig,”.

Serving up delicious European and Mederterainian cuisine, the menu will boast fresh and local breads filled with the 4-hour slow-cooked meat of your choosing, fill your fresh roll with salad sides and top it all off with the store’s handmade sauces.

The new Chicken and Pig location will be open five days a week from 11 am until 2:30 pm, giving you plenty of time to check out this new location for brunch with friends or if you’re looking to grab a quick bite to eat during your busy workday.
