If you’ve been eagerly awaiting your annual firefighter wall candy, the wait is over: The 2024 Australian Firefighters Calendar has just launched, and it’s nothing short of sizzling. And, it’s for a great cause.
The calendar is celebrating its 31st year, and this isn’t just any calendar: each page is filled with hunky heroes hanging out with some of Australia’s most adorable animals, from cuddly koalas to playful kittens, which shows the compassion the firefighters stand for both in and out of uniform.
Since the swoon-worthy calendar launched in in 1993, it has raised $3.4 million in donations for Australian charities. It’s supported animal refuges and Australian Wildlife and their homes and will also sending some love to our rural firefighters and brave kiddos fighting cancer.
What’s more, this calendar isn’t just loved by Aussies: it can be found on the walls of supporters in more than 90 countries. And our fire-fighting stars aren’t just fighting fires: they’re in hot demand, blazing a trail across TV shows and magazines worldwide, using their popularity to raise awareness about Australian Wildlife conservation.
This year’s spicy line-up includes more than 25 firefighters from aviation, military and urban fire squads, who have struck poses for 6 calendar editions. As you turn the pages, each month reveals a different firefighter and their heart-warming bond with some cute animals.
This year, the fan-favourite editions are back: Dog, Cat, Horse, Mixed Animal, and the Classic Calendars. 2024 also sees the debut of a ‘Hero’ Calendar, which has action shots of our firefighters doing what they do best.
The sales from this year’s calendars will support several Australian charities:
- The Queensland Koala Society: The guardian angels for our koalas, nursing them back to health to return to their eucalyptus habitats.
- The Kids with Cancer Foundation: Real-life superheroes, offering a financial lifeline to families hit hard by a child’s cancer diagnosis.
- Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital: They have a mission to conserve, protect, and ensure positive welfare outcomes for Australian wildlife. Operating from a mobile vet hospital, ‘Matilda,’ which races to the rescue during natural disasters, ensuring our wild mates get top-notch care.
- Safe Haven Animal Rescue Inc: A bunch of awesome volunteers with a mission to rescue, pamper, and find forever homes for our four-legged pals.
But that’s not all. This calendar will also be spreading the joy to groups such as Wildcare Inc, Fauna Rescue of SA, Native Animal Rescue, CAVFA, Queensland Koala Society, Best Friends Felines, All Breed Canine Rescue Inc, Healing Hooves, and Safe Haven Animal Rescue.
