The South Australia Citizen of the Year has been announced

Christine Robertson has been announced as the South Australian Citizen of the Year.

Her tireless work has been recognised and now she has been announced as the South Australian Citizen of the Year.

The Citizen of the Year Award recognises a South Australian who provides tireless and outstanding service to their community that makes a significant difference to the people of our state.

She’s the Executive Officer of the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market (ASFM) and now the SA Citizen of the Year award winner, Christine Robertson.

Christine was awarded South Australian Citizen of the Year by Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, at a ceremony held at Government House on Wednesday, March 30.

Chair of the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market, Mem Erikson said it was a very proud moment.

“We are immensely proud of Christine and grateful to have had her with us for over three years as the Executive Officer at the market,” Erikson said.

“This is a most deserving award and I congratulate her on behalf of the committee and our entire farmers’ market community.”

Recently Christine had also received the City of Charles Sturt 2022 Citizen of the Year award, an award presented to recognise individuals who have made a noteworthy contribution to a local community.

Outside of the market, Christine has dedicated herself tirelessly to Lost Pets of South Australia Inc. a charity she founded with two colleagues in 2013 to reunite families with their lost pets and run entirely by volunteers.

Christine also created the ‘Chipblitz’ program, which is now the largest pet microchipping program in the southern hemisphere. Since its inception, Chipblitz has assisted the community in microchipping over 43,000 pets for just $10 each in over 292 locations right across South Australia.

Deputy Chair of the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market, Lynne Dickson said “We are extremely fortunate to have Christine who provides the same level of dedication to the market as she does to her many endeavours in the community”.

“We are very proud and thankful to have Christine heading up the weekly Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market. The market is more than a community to Christine – it is family,” Dickson said.

“You will see her every Sunday morning chatting with customers and stallholders or at the Information Stand helping with enquiries.

“Christine’s generosity, passion and dedication to the community is exceptional and she continues to have a powerful impact on families throughout South Australia and beyond.”

Congratulations to Christine Robertson, the recipient of the prestigious 2022 South Australian Citizen of the Year Award!
