Last night on ‘My Kitchen Rules’ viewers were blessed with an all South Australian grand final, showing once and for all that South Aussie’s know what they’re doing in the kitchen!
On the ‘My Kitchen Rules’ grand final, the florist and the “princess” Leigh Sexton and Jennifer Evans defeated fellow South Australian contestants Nic Mazzone and Rocco La Bella in an epic two hour, five course extravaganza.
It was an action-packed finale, with both teams having to prepare a total of 100 plates. If that wasn't pressure enough, the former contestants, as well as the finalists' families, were brought in to watch and cheer on.
Nic & Rocco impressed with their innovative menu containing Seared Moroccan Tuna, Bug Tails, Spatchcock Two Ways, Poached Pork Belly and Chocolate Raspberry Pop Delight, whereas Leigh & Jennifer offered up Crab Congee, Scallops in XO Sauce, Quail, Wagyu Beef Ribs and Chocolate Hazelnut Cake.
Dish for dish, it was a very tight race, with both teams delivering some mouth-watering meals. But there could only be one winner, and last night Leigh & Jennifer’s dishes were certainly worthy of the $250,000 prize money.
On Channel 7’s ‘The Morning Show’ this morning, winners Leigh & Jennifer announced that they had no plans to open a restaurant or café with the prize money and were still deciding what to invest the money on. However, they did say that they were entertaining the idea of a catering business, but nothing is for certain yet.
Regardless of the result, it was great to see two South Australian teams battling it out – we are very proud of our South Aussie contestants, showing to the rest of Australia what they are capable of.
