Been wondering what’s up at The Stag Public House? Well, the upstairs section is now open! Hello, warm summer nights hanging out on the balcony with beers in hand. The venue has been experiencing gradual upgrades since June and now the time has finally come to introduce upstairs as a multipurpose function and event space.
If you hadn’t already heard, The Stag was resurrected in August this year after a hiatus, and fortunately rebranded as the new and improved The Stag Public Hotel. Ollie Brown, who also co-established everyone’s favourite whiskey and craft beer bar, Nola, and the rest of the team, really wanted to encapsulate the true spirit of a Public House. “For us, a Public House is an area where everybody can feel welcome, and somewhere that supports local”, Ollie told us.
So it was only natural for the venue to add an event and function space that can host pretty much anything. One minute, The Stag Public House are hosting a chilled out lifestyle event like Gin and Yoga (don’t forget, last one of the year is Monday!), next minute, there will be classy wine tastings or a wedding. It really is the place for everyone. And, they’ve kept with the public house ethos by ensuring all the booze is local and the food made in house is from local suppliers.
The team have deliberately left the upstairs space as a blank canvas so it’s completely up to individual functions to paint their own picture of their perfect event. This is giving us many ideas…unicorn party anyone? No? Well anyway, they’ll be looking to bring even more exciting events to the space including gin pop ups, live music, functions overlooking the Fringe and maybe even some table tennis. We’ll be honest, they had us at gin.
You can check out the exciting new space for yourself from 12pm daily or do one better and head to their their Christmas Eve Disco Party. The team at The Stag Public House are pretty pumped to be hosting their first multi-level party, but just be prepared to explain to the family on Christmas Day why you’re napping at the table.
