The Strathmore Hotel kicks off 2025 as Adelaide’s ultimate social hub with book clubs, bottomless brunches and more

As Adelaide launches into 2025, The Strathmore Hotel is cementing its place as one of the city’s top social spots.

As Adelaide launches into 2025, The Strathmore Hotel is cementing its place as one of the city’s top social spots. Perfectly positioned on North Terrace in the heart of the CBD, this iconic venue is stepping up its game to evolve beyond its traditional role as a local pub into a hub where the community can gather, celebrate South Australian culture, and, as they put it, “live moments that matter.”

The Strathmore is rolling out an exciting lineup of events designed to bring people together, with something for everyone to enjoy. The team is focused on giving the community the chance to disconnect from screens and reconnect with each other in person, and with these upcoming events, they’re doing exactly that.

Among the first big events of 2025 is the Carnival of Love Mollydooker Blending Dinner on February 5th, which invites wine lovers to blend their own wine while enjoying a three-course meal. The event will be an immersive and social experience, perfect for solo guests looking to meet new people.

“We want to create a space where people step away from their screens, make connections, and have a lot of fun,” Meg Daniel from The Strathmore says. “This is a perfect event that you can come along to solo and meet new people, all while enjoying a three-course dinner.”

Another crowd favourite is Read Between the Wines, a unique pub-based book club that combines a love of literature with the best of South Australian wine. Held every second Tuesday of the month, the event has quickly gained popularity since its launch in 2024, regularly booking out well in advance. Attendees can relax after a long day at work or uni while enjoying and learning a bit about selected wines and SA wineries and engaging in informal discussions with fellow book lovers.

For regular participant Kate, the event offers more than just books and wine: “It’s a community of book and wine lovers, and I’ve made gorgeous new friends here. Each month brings something new, the book, guest speakers, the people I meet, and of course, the wonderful wine.”

The Strathmore’s commitment to supporting local causes is seen in its Champagne Society event, which kicks off on February 23rd. Following the sell-out success of Bottomless Bollinger, these events feature bottomless French champagne, beautiful brunches, live music, and the opportunity to support Catherine House, a local charity that assists SA women experiencing homelessness.

Combining celebration with philanthropy, these events are the perfect way to indulge while contributing to a good cause. “It’s about bringing people together for an amazing day with a purpose,” Meg Daniel says.

While The Strathmore shines through its events, its location and versatility are equally important. Whether you’re catching a game or enjoying a delicious meal, there’s something for everyone. Sports fans will appreciate the venue’s proximity to key locations like Adelaide Oval and Coopers Stadium, along with shuttle services to major events like LIV Golf at Grange.

For foodies, the Stonegrill Experience is a hands-on dining adventure where you will enjoy the best steak you will ever eat – an interactive and memorable experience that’s hard to beat. And for those seeking some light-hearted competition, Trivia Nights and Meat Tray Raffles provide the perfect opportunity to test your knowledge while winning great prizes.

At its core, The Strathmore Hotel is an SA family-owned business that takes great pride in showcasing the best South Australia has to offer. Meg Daniel captures the spirit of the venue perfectly: “Our goal is to create experiences that bring people together and showcase the best of this incredible state.”

“It’s about being part of a community, meeting new people, or your mates over a beer and having a great time. The staff here are always friendly and welcoming,” Regular patron James says.

For those whose New Year resolution is seeking an escape from the digital grind and taking a chance to engage in meaningful, real-world connections, The Strathmore Hotel is undoubtedly one of Adelaide’s social hotspots in 2025. With an exciting calendar of events, a great atmosphere, and a strong commitment to celebrating local culture, it’s the perfect place to connect and unwind.
