Adelaide has been confirmed as one of the upcoming host cities for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, becoming just one of seven cities in the country to host the international event.

Running from October 16th to November 23rd next year, the announcement is a big boost for SA, with local hospitality businesses and venues, set to benefit from the event.

Premier Steven Marshall expressed his excitement for SA, taking to social media to describe the announcement as a ‘major win’ for local Adelaide businesses.

“We can’t wait to see Australia defend their title in front of a home crowd, in the most liveable city in the nation!”, he posted to Facebook.

Following another rollercoaster year with the pandemic continuing to affect businesses across the state, this is a welcome announcement for the local hospitality sector and tourism industry who will benefit from the cup’s visit to the city.

Ending with its Australia final at the MCG on November 13th, the T20 World Cup will tour Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, with 45 matches to span across the seven host cities.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has now confirmed the final line-up for the event, with Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa confirmed in the Super 12s. Round One teams will include Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka and the West Indies for the Australia event.
