As part of its revival over the past several months,
The Tivoli Function Centre is reopening its spacious front bar on Tuesday 21st February
. It’s the perfect meeting spot if you’re waiting to get into The Garden or Gluttony, looking for a substantial bite to eat before a night on the town or gearing up for the night’s antics with amazing Fringe drinks specials.
There is a definitive lightness about the space with warm timber floors and furnishings paired off against soft blue aesthetics. They’ve hit the nail on the head when it comes to modernising the space and adding a more contemporary feel. We love the openness and tranquil vibe which contrasts with some of the darker small bars which populate the East End.
The front bar is an ideal space for groups with longish tables and open social spaces, perfect for mingling between the tables and the bars. There’s a range of daily specials – our attention was drawn to the Mini Tivoli Sliders and lavish share platters, which will change every week.
For local workers and the party goers alike, Thirsty Thursdays have plenty to offer with $5 wines, beer, ciders and base spirits during happy hour (5-7pm). Even more enticing is the $10 cocktail specials on Friday nights. Cocktail barman extraordinaire Edward Kulbash moved over to the UK several years ago and forged a reputation for his fantastic concoctions, even entering competitions to showcase his cocktail juggling skills. The prodigal son has returned with an impressive arsenal of bartending skills which are as rich in entertainment value as they are from a functional standpoint. Whether you like your martinis shaken, stirred or…. with espresso, Kulbash is eager to impress.
In addition to the new bar, the venue is hosting some spectacular burlesque shows during the Fringe in the venue’s grand ballroom by Burly-Q. Make sure you come down to check them out and grab some sliders and one of the Fringe drink specials while you’re at it.
