The top 7 festivals happening in Adelaide this Winter

Adelaide is a buzz with activity at the moment and things are only heating up with something on to please everyone!

Many of us associate the Winter months with slowing down and staying in but with so much happening around South Australia, you may need to rethink your approach. From music festivals to whale watching, there is something happening to suit every taste, so take a look and get planning!

Illuminate Adelaide | 28th June – 30th July

Back for its second year, Illuminate Adelaide is bringing a series of light and sound activations to the city. Taking over streets, laneways and open spaces there is a mixture of free and ticketed events including the popular Light Cycles.

Victor Harbor Whalefest | 26 May – 30 June

Celebrate the annual migration of Southern Right and Humpback whales to the shores of the Fleurieu with a month and a half long festival full of whale watching, education and activities.

Campbelltown Pizza Festival | 5 – 29 July

Held throughout the month of July, the Campbelltown Pizza Festival showcases the best of local pizzerias in the area to celebrate the vibrant Italian community. Participating venues will offer up pizza and pasta specials, all you can eat deals and live music.

Cellar Door Fest | 7-8 July

The Winter edition of Cellar Door Fest is back by popular demand showcasing some of the best local wines and spirits all in one convenient, CBD location. The smaller, boutique style rendition of Cellar Door Fest will feature an extensive artisan food market and live music from local artists.
The event, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, is ticketed with prices starting from $30.

Adelaide Guitar Festival | 1 – 16 July

Experience world-class guitarists through a series of exciting events taking place around the state. Starting in Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula, the festival will travel to ten towns providing free or low-cost performances, workshops, masterclasses and artist talks in the most significant festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Spin Off Festival | 21 July

A slew of music’s biggest names are on their way to Adelaide for Spin Off Festival. The Hilltop Hoods, PNAU and Hockey Dad are just some of the acts that will be taking over the Adelaide Showground in a much welcome return of the festival after a two-year hiatus.

Winter Reds | 28 – 30 July

One of the most beautiful ways to enjoy the Hills is on a cold wintery weekend, the rain pelting the window of a rustic cellar door, a fire roaring, a glass of Shiraz, Pinot Noir or even Tempranillo in hand and a bowl of warming, slow cooked nourishment on your lap.
