The Vegan Festival Adelaide returns this December with 60 stalls, delicious plant-based food, live music, and more

The Vegan Festival Adelaide is back this December with around 60 stalls packed with delicious plant-based food and cruelty-free products live music, and more.

The Vegan Festival Adelaide is back and better than ever this December, happening on Saturday December 7th and Sunday December 8th from 11am to 5pm each day. Set in the beautiful Rundle Park/Kadlitpina in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD, this annual event has been attracting everyone from dedicated vegans to the “v-curious” since its began in 2007.

This year’s festival is bringing back the best of past events with exciting new features, all while celebrating a commitment to creating a kinder world for all beings. With around 60 stalls packed with delicious plant-based food and cruelty-free products, festival-goers can look forward to a fantastic weekend filled with tasty bites and adorable furry friends.

There will be live performances by local vegan musicians and hands-on workshops, covering everything from yoga to activism. A lineup of passionate speakers and chefs will be sharing their insights and knowledge on plant-based living, inspiring everyone to embrace the vegan lifestyle.

Popular vendors include Staazi & Co. – ranked among the top 10 vegan food trucks globally – along with Nagev, Sassi Ice Cream and many others, serving everything from plant-based burgers to gluten-free donuts and refreshing mocktails.

The festival also offers a unique opportunity to shop for ethical Christmas gifts, with heaps of different products available. Families can enjoy craft sessions, a kids’ disco, and even giant chess! One of the most exciting additions this year is a sausage sizzle, proving that you can enjoy traditional Aussie foods that are cruelty-free too.

As founder Lea McBride puts it, “What makes Vegan Festival Adelaide so special are the emotional moments where everyone shares in both the pain and the joy of being part of a movement. It’s like stepping into a safe, supportive vegan bubble, if only for a weekend.”

The speaker lineup will feature Zacchary Bird, who will kick off the weekend with his energetic “Animal Rights Aerobics.” Plus, you’ll hear from experts Rebecca Stonor and Dr. Heleene Haitjema from Doctors for Nutrition, who will share valuable cooking knowledge. Activist Kristy Alger will discuss pressing issues such as greyhound racing, while Yolanda Soryl shares her incredible 35-year vegan journey. And cricket legend & Vegan Festival Patron, Jason Gillespie may make an appearance when he’s not busy commentating the Australia vs. India Test match, adding to the festival’s strong commitment to animal rights!

Reflecting on the festival’s journey, Lea McBride says, “The Vegan Festival Adelaide has flourished remarkably, growing from just 1,000 attendees in 2007 to an incredible 15,000 to 18,000 over its two-day event. We’re here to educate, celebrate, and keep the vegan message alive in our city and beyond.”

Whether you’re a dedicated vegan or simply “v-curious,” join the festivities this December for a weekend filled with delicious plant-based food, live music, and a sense of community at the Vegan Festival Adelaide!
