The Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary Is Having A Grand Re-Opening

While it’s still a work in progress, Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary is ready to celebrate its rebirth just in time for Spring!

The Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary is well known as a South Australian icon and national treasure.

Hearts broke around the state when the sanctuary had to close its doors after their fence had been breached by a fox, effectively decimating the resident population of Potoroos and Rufous Bettongs.

But if there’s one thing we know about nature, it always bounces back! There are at least four Platypus in Blackwater Lake and the bird life is currently thriving.

What better way to celebrate the rebirth of Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary and the first day of Spring than bringing life back to the Sanctuary?

While it’s still a work in progress and needs a lot of love, it’s time to open the gates and welcome locals back. With your support, they can restock the Sanctuary and get the grand old lady of Australian conservation back on her feet. Warrawong deserves to be the Australian oasis originally envisioned by Dr John Wamsley and Proo Geddes.

It’s up to all of us to help fulfill that dream.

Visit the Sanctuary on 1st September for a day of wildlife presentations, kids crafts and fun—grab the family and make it a day out!

The Shed coffee lounge will also be open on the day for you to relax and grab a coffee or enjoy a range of light meals, drinks and snacks. With its floor to ceiling windows, The Shed is a great sanctuary for humans wanting to daydream while they watch the amazing bird life outside.

Please note that the opening is a ticketed event, as places are limited. If you’re eager to have a peek at the new Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary, get your tickets here.
