How do you say “Wake up Jeff!” in Greek? The lucky kids participating in the Wiggles and Hellenic Studies Foundation’s ‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ will soon find out!
Anthony Wiggle and his daughter Lucia Wiggle have partnered with the South Australia’s Hellenic Studies Foundation to produce “Learning Greek with Lucia!”, an educational initiative designed for early learners and primary school children. It aims to inspire and encourage future generations of Greek language learners in Australia – and beyond.
The collaboration between The Foundation and The Wiggles seeks to transform the language learning experience by delivering the vibrancy of Greek language and culture to children in a fun, immersive and engaging manner.

Founded in 2005, The Hellenic Studies Foundation (The Foundation) actively promotes Greek language and culture through various educational initiatives. These include improving Greek language proficiency and enriching the cultural connections to Greece’s rich heritage.
The Wiggles have been a staple in children’s entertainment for over thirty years, reaching millions of preschoolers and their parents worldwide. Known for their engaging and educational content, their engagement with The Foundation is an exciting development that will further the Foundation’s aims.
‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ represents a collaboration that integrates cultural learning with child-friendly entertainment, making the vibrant nuances of Modern Greek accessible to a young audience. It also includes exclusive concert access!

Greg Crafter, Chairman of The Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration.
“We are thrilled to join forces with The Wiggles to introduce children to the beauty of the Greek language. Through ‘Learning Greek with Lucia,’ we aim to inspire a lifelong love for language learning and foster a deeper appreciation for Greek culture.”
‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ is designed to provide an enjoyable and engaging experience for children of all ages. The programme will feature a range of content, including catchy songs and interactive activities, crafted to captivate and encourage a passion for learning new languages.
Anthony Field of The Wiggles shared his excitement about their involvement in the project.
“We are honoured to be a part of this meaningful initiative. Collaborating with The Foundation has been a joyous experience, and we are excited to contribute to promoting Greek language and culture through our work.”

The project has also received substantial support from the South Australian Government, which has provided the funding necessary to bring this initiative to life and significantly and positively impact language education in Australia.
Minister Tom Koutsantonis premiered the ‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ at the official launch event on June 7th, 2024.
‘Learning Greek with Lucia’ will be available to communities worldwide, making it an invaluable educational resource for families, schools, and anyone interested in language learning. This is just the start of an enterprising relationship between the Foundation and the Wiggles.
