The world’s most advanced home speakers are built in Adelaide

Kyron Audio is combining luxury and impeccable audio engineering creating some of the world’s most impressive sonic experiences.

Adelaide-based Kyron Audio is combining luxury, engineering and impeccable audio to create one of the world’s most impressive sonic experiences, all in the comfort of your own home.

Founders, Lee Gray and Leon Suter, both classically trained musicians, met back in the early 2000s in the airforce. Gray says the pair committed “in 2005, to making the world’s best loud speaker.”

As Gray descibes it, Kyron speakers are “ultimate home music systems.” He says, “our focus is on music, bringing the ultimate music experience into your own home.” The business develops audio systems customised down to the finest detail.

The aspect that really caught my attention was just how realistic the speakers are. Gray says, “It’s like a time machine. You can enjoy the world’s best concerts with the world’s best artists any time in history in the comfort of your own home.” I can think of more than a few iconic concerts I’d love to put through the speakers…

It doesn’t stop at excellent quality, the business is committed to next level customer service, with photo documentation and communication every step of the way. It’s like buying a luxury car, every bespoke part is down to individual preference, the company working with precision and care to ensure the best possible customer experience.

Gray mentions, “we’re at the point where we’re having a number of the bolts and fasteners custom built specially for our needs.” He continues, “we design everything from digital source (where the audio comes from), cables, amplification. You name it, we design it as a cohesive whole.”

“We do things a little bit differently,” Gray says. “We build complete music systems. If I can give an analogy, if you want the world’s best car, you don’t go shopping for an engine here and a transmission there, tyres there, electrical somewhere else and try and cobble it together.”

“That’s typically what the hifi industry is at the moment. We design everything cohesively, through design and testing,” Gray says.

Gray, the head industrial designer, based in Adelaide, is proud that Kyron supports local. Gray says, “everything’s designed primarily in Adelaide, assembled in Adelaide, and about 40% of the components are even manufactured in South Australia.”

If you’ve seen the speakers, one of the most striking things is that they don’t have a box. Gray says, “we were one of the first ones to do it commercially. We’re chasing that holy grail to get that ultimate fidelity. We’re trying to replicate the art that is music as true to its source as possible.”

Kyron uses a system designed by the creator of the worlds first digital synthesiser, the Fairlight, and he’s Australian! Gray says, “this guy changed the sound of the 80s.”

Kyron’s audio systems fix small, but noticeable time errors often seen in typical speakers. Gray says, “what we do is chop the sound into thousands of pieces and we delay everything to the slowest frequency.”

“That way everything hits your ears at the right time and all of a sudden you have this amazing sound with height, depth and width. You can even tell if the singer has stood up, sat down.”

You can experience Kyron’s amazing home audio systems by appointment, while By Bespoke Adelaide are currently hosting a Kyron residency.
