Celebrating the music, the magic and all the history – the world’s most loved Michael Jackson tribute show, HIStory, is returning to Australia this year with a revamped production and new star, Dantanio.
As a skilled impersonator specialising in Michael Jackson and Sammy Davis Jr., Dantanio has travelled the world, including London, USA, South Africa, Bahrain and Kenya.
In 2014 the coveted part of Michael Jackson opened up in one of the world’s biggest tribute shows – Showtime Management’s The Michael Jackson HIStory Show – and Dantanio was scouted by the show’s Director to fill the challenging role.
Dantanio felt an affinity with Michael Jackson at an early age and his appreciation of Jackson’s dancing evolved into obsessive practice as he taught himself to emulate every detail of the Pop star’s trademark dance style. So good was his imitation that it resulted in his ejection from an amateur dance competition at age 16 because the judges believed him to be of a professional standard.
Coming ‘full circle’ from his beginnings as an inspired young MJ fan, Dantanio looks forward to honouring his idol with his role in The Michael Jackson HIStory Show.
Since its re-launch in early 2015, this spectacular tribute to the King of Pop has been touring the globe and will visit Adelaide next week, July 18th.
Replacing Kenny Wizz to headline HIStory, is the world’s premier Michael Jackson impersonator, Dantanio, who sensationally recreates pop history with a band of talented musicians, choreographed dancers, authentic costumes and brilliant effects.
A musical biography, HIStory will journey through Michael Jackson’s vast and incredible catalogue of work including his beginnings as a member of Jackson 5, his groundbreaking theatrics in the 80s and his evolution onwards into the 21st century.
Over 20 songs will be performed live by Dantanio including ABC, Ben, Smooth Criminal and Beat It. In this stunning recreation of a Michael Jackson concert, HIStory will celebrate an extraordinary talent and relive the magic of one of the greatest pop icons the world has ever known.
The newly revamped production stays mostly true to its original concert format that has toured since 2011 but now combines Michael Jackson’s greatest hits with refined choreography, updated costumes and innovative new production elements – making the show a fresh experience for all.
HiStory will play for one night only on 18 July at the Adelaide Festival Theatre 8pm.
