To the squeals and shouts of a packed house of tiny tots and their minders, a familiar furry figure dragged a carpetbag onto the stage and told us Grover was on his way home. He invited all the eager audience to help him back to Sesame Street by giving him a push – then suddenly there they all were, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Zoe, Abby Cadabby and, of course, Elmo.
Grover brought them all a present, a large globe and with the help of Abby’s magic they got to visit many of the places, learning how to say hello and what dance they do in each country. In between hopping to the countries we got to meet Bert and Ernie (their rubber duckies, complete with bubbles, were a great success), The Count, who brought his bats, and a new character, Lady Baa Baa,who hitched a ride back to Australia. This gregarious, globetrotting sheep helped the Sesame Street crew learn a bit about Australia.
Complete with all the usual songs and gags, using the alphabet to choose which countries to visit, this fun show is everything the kids wanted. With lots of encouragement to join in with the fun it became very interactive and a real treat, which kept the young fans engaged to the end.
