Sometimes things just make sense, like cheese and crackers, or movies and popcorn, so when we discovered there was a market INSIDE a pub, where you can drink and shop, it was like all our birthdays had come at once.
Our first thought was, why hadn’t anyone thought of this before, but it turns out that Simone Douglas, the brainchild behind the Publican Markets at the Duke of Brunswick, had this concept up and running months ago. We’re just a little slow on the uptake here. We blame our Winter red wine consumption.

This weekend will be their 5th monthly market, after kicking things off in May . The concept has been so successful that it’s now a regular event, being held on the third Sunday of every month.
Hosting around 20 stallholders, come rain, hail or shine, you can find everything from fresh flowers, to herbs and spices, jewellery, custom leather dog collars for your furry friends, homewares, craft, fashion, and more, all while sipping your favourite wine or cocktails.
The Publican Markets will be on from 11am-4pm this Sunday, September 16th, and gives you the perfect excuse for a lazy lunch with friends and a spot of shopping, while you enjoy a bevvy in their secret garden, under the verandah, or out by the fountain,
It’s not the first brilliant idea by Simone either. She launched her Dogdayz a while back on Sundays, giving you and your fur baby a chance to hang out downtown at their pub while your pooch can indulge in housemade doggy treats. That event has been so popular, it has just changed from a monthly affair, to an every Sunday thing.
This Sunday they’re also launching free upgrades on your drinks (like this day can get any better). You can buy a pint of beer, and have it upgraded to an empirical pint, grab a house sprit and have it upsized from 30 to 45ml, or buy a standard house wine and get a 250ml pour.
