Things Are About To Get Stormy; How To Stay Safe During Adelaide’s Severe Weather

Batten down the hatches, things are about to get wild and wooly in Adelaide. Check out some information to keep you safe during the upcoming storm…

We got used to all that beautiful sunshine and glorious heat, but bringing us back down to earth for a little bit is a cracking thunderstorm set to hit Adelaide this week.

This won’t just be some light drizzle or slight winds, the Bureau of Meteorology have actually issued a ‘Severe Thunderstorm Warning’ to certain parts of South Australia.

The wild and wooly weather will even put a dampener on tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup festivities with rain and thunderstorms expected in and around Adelaide. Although, let’s be honest, that won’t be stopping us from frocking up, putting on our best fascinator and getting out and about for the race that stops the nation!

The worst hit region will appear to be the North West Pastoral District for which the weather warning has been issued. With damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h to be expected, we are recommending that you batten down the hatches!

The State Emergency Service has advised people in that area (but it isn’t a bad idea to do similar here in Adelaide) to secure or put away loose items around their property, move cars under cover or away from trees, keep clear of fallen power lines and to stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.

So be prepared and stay safe!
