What does it take to be a model? A look, a walk, an X factor that can’t quite be pinned down. For Adelaide’s aspiring faces, the opportunity to find out is coming right to their doorstep.
On Saturday, October 25, King William Road will transform into a runway of its own as The Models hosts its annual Model Search in the heart of Hyde Park’s premier fashion strip. Part casting call, part street party, it’s set to be both a career launchpad and a celebration of Adelaide style.
“This year’s Model Search is all about accessibility and authenticity,” say founders Rebecca and Letitia
“We’ve reimagined the experience to create an even more welcoming space for emerging talent—no matter their background, size, age, or experience level.”
“By choosing King William Road, we’re taking the search out of the traditional studio and into the community. It’s an iconic Adelaide location, known for its vibrant mix of fashion, food and culture—making it the perfect runway for real people to be discovered.”
It’s a far cry from the narrow ideals that once dominated the industry. Since launching in 2018, The Models has built a reputation for being bold, inclusive, and invested in its talent. They were one of the first agencies in the world to remove model measurements from websites and comp cards, and they’ve continued to back that stance with consistent training and long-term development.
“During the selection process our team is trained to look beyond traditional beauty standards and instead focus on presence, personality and potential,” they explain.
“We celebrate individuality by creating a safe and encouraging space where every entrant can express their unique style and story.”
And the results speak for themselves. Past discoveries include Emma Kelsey, who went from an Adelaide open casting to working with Acler and Significant Other in Sydney and London, Felicity Jackson, who went on to appear in national campaigns, and Brayden Timpany, who was walking runways in Tokyo and Seoul just six months after signing.
“Emma, Felicity and Brayden each brought something unique to the table, but what they all shared was a genuine presence, a strong work ethic and a willingness to grow,” Rebecca and Letitia explain.
“This year, we’re looking for that same spark—someone who is ready to learn, unapologetically themselves and excited to make their mark.”

Being selected is only the beginning. Participants gain access to development programs spanning runway coaching, portfolio building and industry mentoring, alongside pathways to connect with international agencies and scouts.
“Many of our talent go on to feature in major campaigns, editorial shoots and even global runways,” they add. “We’re passionate about nurturing long-term careers, not just creating one-off moments.”
For those considering it but still hesitating, their advice is simple.
“Just do it! You don’t need a professional portfolio or runway experience—just the courage to show up as yourself. The biggest myth in the industry is that you have to look or act a certain way to belong. We’re all about proving that’s not true. Trust your gut, let us meet the real you, and that’s where the magic starts.”
And even if you’re not stepping up to audition, King William Road will be alive with the buzz of fashion, alfresco dining, and of course community. Expect food stalls, DJs, live activations and fashion moments will spill onto the street.
“We encourage people to come down and join us—let us discover new faces while you discover the best of King William Road!”
Who knows? The next breakout face could be spotted right there on the street.
