If you’ve been wanting to explore a new hobby or get the kids into something new, there’s no better time to start than the New Year. One of Adelaide’s leading performing arts schools, Star Academy, is making dipping your toes into something new easier than ever with their Open Day on Saturday, January 17th from 10am to 2pm.
Held at their Star Studios at 199 Franklin Street, families, aspiring performers and those who are simply curious are invited to come along and see what they’re doing first-hand. The Open Day is designed to be welcoming and fun, with the chance to meet Star Academy’s friendly team, tour the studios and jump into a range of taster classes for ages 2.5 and over. They teach dance, with styles from ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, acro and contemporary, singing, and acting, and are passionate about helping students of all ages who love to move and express themselves. If you’re unsure where to start or are looking to see what fits, this will be a relaxed way to explore what Star Academy is all about with no pressure, just plenty of encouragement.
Managing Director Jenna Maiolo says that what makes the Star Community truly special is the energy. “You’re surrounded by people who are passionate, encouraging, and invested — not just in their own journey, but in each other’s too. There’s a real sense of belonging, where ideas are shared openly, wins are celebrated, and challenges are met together. Celebrate 15 years of Star Academy in 2026!”

Over the years, Star Academy has continued to evolve alongside the performing arts industry, responding to growing demand for versatile, confident performers equipped with both technical skill and real-world readiness. Their training now blends strong foundations with creativity, collaboration and confidence-building, while ongoing investment in facilities, systems and specialist staff makes sure students are supported in a professional, future-focused, but fun environment.
One of the most exciting developments for 2026 is the launch of the Star Academy Ballet Extension Program, which is designed for students who are serious about refining their ballet training. “We wanted to create an opportunity for dancers who are committed to truly mastering the foundations of ballet, while also strengthening and expanding our ballet department. As ballet is the foundation of all dance styles, this program has been carefully designed to support strong, technical growth,” shared Jenna.
The program was written by Star Academy’s classical ballet teacher, Jackeline Valente and includes ballet, pre-pointe, pointe, repertoire, progressive ballet technique and contemporary ballet. Students enrolled in the program will move through levels based on skill rather than age and are supported to grow faster while developing artistry and confidence.
Jackeline brings an exceptional wealth of experience, with formal training across Bolshoi, Royal Academy of Dance and Vaganova methods, and a professional career spanning leading companies in Brazil and Argentina.

Open to the wider community, the Ballet Extension Program is just one of many reasons 2026 is looking to be a standout year at Star Academy. For families looking to explore creative opportunities, make new connections and join a thriving performing arts community, the Open Day is the perfect place to start. Enrolments for 2026 are now open, and places are expected to fill quickly.
