Everything Beers And Bites At Russian Bar’s Week-Long RedOktober Fest

For the week beginning the 22nd of October, Red October will provide a recognisable supplementary selection of beers and food with a distinct taste of Germany throughout (with a Russian twist).

Russian styled bar Red October on Gilbert Place is hosting a week long October Festival with a decidedly Russian twist.

Owners of Bibliotheca Bar & Book Exchange, Roman Tazhdynov and Marina Tazhdynova are casting back to the Soviet Era with their bar Red October, a play on the famous 1990 film ‘The Hunt for Red October’ with Sean Connery.

Enclosed around a masterful timber, concrete and heritage stone fit out, is a bar fused with an extensive list of Russian and Australian wines and beers.

For the week beginning October 22, Red October will provide a plethora of beers and beer accompanied food to celebrate Octoberfest or should we say, Red OktoberFest.

The beer selection is on point with Barossa Valley Brewing, 4 Pines, Mismatch, Ferel Brewing, Lobethal Bierhaus and Hills Cider on the cards.

Highlighting the menu is the two types of Russian dumplings, Vareniki and Pelemini; other items include sausages with mash and Russian Sauerkraut, Pork Shanks and Weiner Schnitzels. It’s all the Octoberfest classics with a Russian twist.

A lucky dip will be organised throughout the week featuring merchandise and promotional drinks from the breweries aforementioned, along with a tap runout party on Sunday October 27.

Be sure to check out this booming taste of Russian flavour in your continuing Octoberfest celebrations.
