Friday night knockoffs just got more fun.
Kalleske Wines in the Barossa Valley is hosting a free Friday night picnic with lots of wining and dining. Guests can drink a range of beverages––including Kalleske’s certified organic and biodynamic wine––all while eating a catered meal.
The monthly event––titled “Wines by the Grass”––has an ever-changing menu of Vintage Chef Co. Catering dishes. The options for this Friday’s event include arancini balls, tomato and basil penne with roasted vegetables, stay chicken fried rice, and lemon curd cheescakes.
There will also be local ice cream offerings from Barossa Valley Ice Cream, and for the first time, the event will have locally sourced coffee from Happy Black Sheep Roaming Café.
Due to its Barossa location, Kalleske Wines tends to focus on reds, but they also have whites and a wine cocktail made specifically for Wines by the Grass. This Friday, they are offering sangria. All wine is served in tumblers for environmental reasons.
If you’re not a wine fan, there’s also craft beer available, and it comes from Greenock Brewers right across the road.
“We have something for everyone’s tastes,” says Michael Pratt, Kalleske’s brand manager.
This event, which usually draws around 250 people, happens once a month in the summer, and this is the second to last of the season.
Guests come not only for the food and drink offerings, but also for the vibes. Set in the winery’s back garden, the event will be filled with picnic rugs, cellar door seating, and acoustic tunes from Amber Kalleske.
“With wine, good food, and beer brewed right across the road, the event is a great place for Friday knock-offs,” Pratt says.
