The Adelaide Hills will come to life this autumn as the ever-popular Chardonnay May returns for 2026, bringing with it a smashing lineup of wine experiences. Back for another fantastic year, Golding Wines is hosting a fresh event, perfect for a great mother-daughter experience, combining fine sparkling wine, storytelling and hands-on creativity for a fantastic afternoon.
Taking place on Sunday, May 24th, Sparkle & Sip – A Marjorie Blanc de Blancs Experience invites guests to discover the remarkable story behind Marjorie, a traditional method Blanc de Blancs sparkling crafted from 100 per cent Chardonnay. Marjorie is more than just a wine, it’s a tribute to love, resilience and community spirit during World War II.
The sparkling takes its name from Marjorie, the grandmother of Golding Wines’ Lucy Golding, whose spontaneous wartime wedding became the inspiration behind the label. Her love story is one of romance and cleverness, marked by a handmade ring crafted from the aluminium of a crashed aircraft bomber. It’s a tale that perfectly captures the enduring power of creativity and connection, themes that are beautifully integrated into this year’s event.

Held in the gorgeous Golding Wines tasting room, guests will be welcomed with a glass of Marjorie Sparkling and a selection of delicious grazing platters to enjoy by the fire. From there, the afternoon unfolds into a relaxed and inspiring experience, where attendees will learn about the fascinating history of Marjorie and the meticulous process behind crafting traditional method sparkling wine.
“Each year we look forward to hosting an event for Chardonnay May and this year we are excited to be bringing you our Sparkle & Sip collaboration with Fencesitter,” shared Lucy Golding. “Guests will spend the afternoon sipping our premium Marjorie Blanc de Blancs Sparkling and crafting their own beautiful piece of charm jewellery with Fencesitter.”

Adding an extra touch of sparkle is a collaborative jewellery workshop with Adelaide-based makers Fencesitter. Inspired by Marjorie’s handcrafted ring, guests will create their own bespoke charm jewellery piece to take home.
“Fencesitter facilitates approachable jewellery and accessory making workshops across Victoria and South Australia,” shared Helen McNab from Fencesitter. “Although they vary in difficulty, even our most challenging workshops are aimed at absolute beginners. Don’t think of yourself as a creative person? We beg to differ.”

Designed to be relaxed and intimate, Sparkle & Sip is perfect for a girls’ afternoon, a special celebration or anyone looking for a memorable day out in the Adelaide Hills. Additional food and beverages will also be available for purchase, allowing guests to extend their indulgence.
