If you’re heading to the Barossa for Gather Round, but you’re stuck on post-game plans, this new Garden Gathering just 600 metres from Barossa Oval has you covered. Set in the beautiful garden space of the Lyndoch Motel, this event offers food, wine, live music and a fire-lit setting to bring in a footy-filled Saturday.
From 4pm to 9pm, half an hour after the final game, the garden will be transformed into a post-match alfresco party. Think toasty fire pits, lawn games, live music, and a mouthwatering lineup of local food and drink.
Edoardo Strappa, the man behind Edo Cucina, will be serving up his Italian casseroles, spaghetti and a “massive batch” of meatballs straight from his Umbrian homeland. Having moved to the Lyndoch Motel late last year, Edoardo has turned the spot into an authentic Italian feast for the senses. If there is one thing you need to try, it’s his casseroles and, lucky for you, there will be plenty of piping hot, fresh, tomatoey deliciousness ready for your pleasure at Garden Gathering.

Alongside Ido’s Italian favourites, expect pig on a spit and nachos, a hearty feed for an evening in the Barossa. A pop-up bar will be pouring a curated selection of South Australian wines and craft beers, featuring labels like Finicky Wines, Creed Wine (CRWD), and Rusticana from Langhorne Creek. The Ministry of Beer will also be available with its signature brews and there will be plenty of classic beer options too.
“It’s a full sensory experience. We’ve built a new fire pit, added extra seating, and cleaned up the lawns so people can walk through. We want to make the space feel really special,” Head Organiser Bridget explained.
The setting will include communal tables, lush grass for lounging, and old-fashioned lawn games like croquet and bowls for the kids. And to top it off? An Elvis impersonator will be performing throughout the entire event, adding a retro twist to the fun.
Bridget encourages those looking to book the Lyndoch Motel for the night to act fast – only a handful of rooms remain for the Saturday.
“There are about eight left at the moment,” said the host. “Friday still has a few, but they’re going quickly.”
Tickets are available via Eventbrite, and the event is capped at 200 guests to maintain an intimate and comfortable atmosphere.
So whether you’re on the hunt for an after-party, or just eager to get your hands on Ido’s Italian favourites, don’t wait. Book now and enjoy an evening in the Barossa, we’ll see you there.
