An Australian first to raise awareness and pay tribute to victims of domestic violence needs our help with both awareness and fundraising.
Domestic violence is an issue that should never leave the conversation and that’s the aim of the of a new project The Place of Courage, initiated through spirit of Woman by Helen Oxenham who started one of the first Women’s Shelters in South Australia.
The Place of Courage is the first Australian public art space providing a place of comfort and healing in an environment of unity and courage – where women can speak up as well as find space for private refection.
Additionally, it will offer a place for community gatherings including vigils, marches and student education as well as a location recognising the disproportionate burden that family violence imposes on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities in Australia.
The Place of Courage (Adelaide Central) is a ‘living’ space that supports all individuals touched by domestic and family violence by embodying the ongoing expression of strength, courage and fortitude.
To help this important cause, you can make a personal, tax deductable donation of $2 or more by June 30 at https://australianculturalfund.org.au/projects/place-of-courage/ as well as encourage your place of work or anyone else to donate.
If money’s tight, you can help raise awareness with some easy to share social media tools available at https://www.spiritofwoman.com.au/get-involved/
