This laid-back Friday night ritual took over the city last spring, and now it’s back with “wine, vinyl & nice times”

Park Up returns to Mukata / Hindmarsh Square for a second summer run, serving up vinyl, wine and relaxed after-work energy just in time for the post-holidays reset.

That’s right, your favourite Friday night knock off is back! The Sanctuary crew’s Park Up is making its grand return for a second run this summer, and it’s all kicking off today, January 23rd.

If you found yourself around the city in October, you may remember Park Up. Whether it was the green posters stuck around the city, or you made your way to Mukata / Hindmarsh Square yourself, Park Up quickly became something to talk about.

The concept was all about doing something different. A CBD after-work hangout, combining “wine, vinyl & nice times”, making Fridays everything they should be – laid back, social, and easy.

“The response to the first Park Up series was incredibly encouraging,” shared project coordinator Lily Pitney. “There was a strong sense that people were craving something simple, relaxed and unforced. Park Up clearly tapped into that.

“We saw a diverse mix of attendees: CBD workers, locals, creatives and passersby who stumbled across the event and chose to stay. What stood out most was how quickly the space became activated. People lingered, struck up conversations with strangers and used Hindmarsh Square in exactly the way it’s intended to be used. ”

So with a clear demand for an event like this, it was a no-brainer to bring it back. “The first Park Up series was positioned as a way to welcome spring and reintroduce people to public space, while this second run is deliberately about welcoming workers back to the city after the summer break. Park Up fits naturally into that (often reluctant) transition, offering an easy, welcoming shift from work mode to downtime.”

For this next run, Park Up is continuing its original ethos. Sticking around is the low barrier access, culturally relevant programming and a relaxed, organic atmosphere, but this time, the focus is on refinement. The team has plans to better use the space, with a clearer curatorial thread and small creative touches that enhance the experience without overproducing it.

So if you loved the first run, or missed out and were curious to check it out, that “disco on tap” vibe is definitely back. With vinyl, good wine and great company, reimagined in a more relaxed, polished way that suits how younger city crowds actually like to socialise.

All the fun kicks off this afternoon from 4pm. Then again on January 30th and February 6th. Expect a laid‑back mix of local DJs, records for sale, and a few unexpected touches that are sure to set the mood. Plus, food, drinks, and alcohol‑free options from around town.
