The Colonist Is Doubling As A Gallery During August

Join The Colonist as they launch a unique exhibition of local artist, Alessia Facini, for the month of August.

You might not think it from the outside, but The Colonist Tavern is a long time avid supporter of local and emerging artists.

Take one step inside and you’ll be immersed in Gustav Klimt imitations, worn pop art, and a variety of pieces with a grungy theme lining the walls. It may be a pub, but let no one say The Colonist doesn’t have personality!

And this August, they’re amping up the celebrations of art alongside SALA Festival. This year, they’re featuring a unique exhibition with pencil drawings by Alessia Facini — a cross between realism and her own expression.

“I haven’t been doing it for that long,” says Facini, who only recently started diving into drawing. “I wasn’t even thinking of exhibiting, it all really just happened!”

Despite the fast-tracked launch into the art world, Facini says the SALA exhibition is, “A good opportunity for me and for every other artist really.”

To kick things off the right way, The Colonist are hosting their exhibition launch party on 3 August.

Throughout the afternoon you can enjoy live music with Jonny Lee, meet the artist and view the artwork on display. There will also be light nibbles available and $10 G&T’s from 4 to 6pm!

You can also stay on for dinner afterwards and choose something from their extensive menu. Or if you’re feeling like something sweet, their selection of special desserts will hit the spot.

If you can’t make the exhibition opening night, just stop by any night throughout August. Alessia’s artwork will be on display and available to purchase from the 1st until the 31st of August.

And, of course, throughout August, you can still indulge in:

  • Lazy brekkie or brunch every weekend from 9am.
  • Happy hour from 5-6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • $10 G&Ts available Thursday & Friday 6-7pm + Saturday 4-6pm.
  • $10 Foraging Plates on Fridays 4-6pm.

You can find The Colonist Tavern at 44 The Parade Norwood, SA 5067. And check them out on Facebook.

You can also follow Alessia’s art journey on her Instagram.
