This New Cafe Serves Up Insta-Worthy Romanian Goodies Unlike You’ve Ever Seen (Or Tried)

Romanian and Hungarian street food known as ‘langos’ will feature heavily on the menu and is bound to become your new fave for its versatility.

The Adelaide European food scene tends to be dominated by all things Italian and Greek — not that we’re complaining — but in such a multicultural state, we love seeing restaurants inspired by other cultures pop up too.

Introducing Cuppario Cafe! With Romanian roots and an Aussie spirit, this cafe will serve up traditional Romanian dishes with modern twists.

Romanian and Hungarian street food known as ‘langos’ will feature heavily on the menu and is bound to become your new fave for its versatility.

The fluffy potato or sweet cheese based doughnut can be sweet or salty. They’re traditionally topped with sour cream, cheese and dill, but Cuppario Cafe is playing around with the flavours.

Fans of the savoury can try a traditional langos or order theirs loaded with roasted chicken, caramelised onion and mushroom, with sour cream, cheese, and chives. Or sink your teeth into a bruschetta done the eastern way — langos with basil pesto, sour cream, garlic, tomatoes, and balsamic drizzle, topped with feta.

More of a sweet tooth? Take your pick from a nutella topped langos with lotus cream, biscuits, chopped nuts and chocolate pashmak (fairy floss), or a more classic version featuring sour cream and ‘visine’ (sour cherry jam), pistachios and rose pashmak.

Since they’re opening in time for summer, Cuppario Cafe will also be mixing some fabulous looking milkshakes.

And langos won’t be the only thing tickling your tastebuds. You can also expect other desserts, like freshly made mini cannoli. (No ordinary cannoli here, though — we’re talking pistachio custard cream, Turkish delight rose, and nutella!)

Cuppario Cafe isn’t open quite yet, but make sure you follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with when they open their doors!

Once they’re open, you’ll find the cafe on 850 Port Rd, Woodville South SA 5011 from Monday to Thursday, 8am to 3pm, as well as Friday and Saturday from 8am to 9pm (for dessert nights!).
