On your marks Adelaide – the City-Bay is on this weekend.

On your marks Adelaide – the City-Bay is on this weekend.

On Sunday, participants will be able to put all their training to the test on 3km, 6km and 12km courses, plus a half marathon which is brand new for 2018.

If you’re doing the 12km course, you could find yourself running alongside television personality Tom Williams.

The former Great Outdoors presenter, one-time Dancing With The Stars winner, and host of Channel 7’s The Daily Edition is coming to town as the ambassador for major sponsor Westpac.

A keen runner, Tom is coming off the back of completing the 2018 City To Surf in Sydney.

“It was pretty good. It’s a bit longer – it’s about 14k and I got it under 80 mins, so I was pretty happy with that,” says Tom.

“I’ve always been a bit of a fun runner. I’ve never done a marathon, I’ve done a half. But I still enjoy these big fun runs, with everyone having good times along the way.”

Tom has made plenty of trips to Adelaide in the past, particularly during his Great Outdoors days which included many visits to the Barossa, Kangaroo Island and beyond.

This trip, he hopes to catch some live music, and says he’s a big fan of Bad Dreems and Hilltop Hoods.

He’ll be using his visit to bring awareness to the lifesaving work of the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service and its crew.

“[The service] is vital to people all around Australia,” he says.

“I’ve been in the Surf Life Saving for 25 years and I’m an active reserve so I know how important the Westpac Helicopter is.”

The Westpac City-Bay Fun Run is on Sunday September 16. For all the details, including road closures, head to city-bay.org.au
