Campbeltown Council has unveiled the concept plan for the upcoming $2.5 million ‘Super Playground’ upgrade.

The project will see the beloved park completely changed with a bird focused design implemented courtesy of JPE Design Studio.

JPE have described the design as celebrating “the abundance and timelessness of the valued birdlife at the Reserve, translating this into sculptural and interactive play elements that provide a wide range of play opportunities that encourage adventure, inclusivity, and immersion.”

Changes include new concrete pavement and paving, shade structures, garden edging, garden beds, outdoor furniture and concrete retaining walls and seating.

A new water play zone, sand pit, nature play items, sports equipment, multi-sport half court, and playground equipment will be major features of the new design.

There will also be a further focus on accessibility and inclusiveness with the liberty swing, accessible sand play, water play, slide, spinning carousel, table tennis, sling seat attachment for flying fox, blackboard or quiet sensory area in the cubby nook.

The concept plan is in stage two of development, with the Council calling fort the community to provide their feedback on the new playground.
