Thousands of South Australians have rushed to SA Water’s simple online estimator to discover how much they’re likely to save on their water bills from July 1.
More than 18,000 people have visited the website in just nine days, following the announcement that average SA households will save approximately $200 each year, with an average business receiving annual savings of around $1,350.
In fact, some families will save significantly more – for example a household in Flinders Park with high water usage of 493 kilolitres per year and a home valued at $670,000 will save $428 next financial year.
Premier Steven Marshall today welcomed the strong interest from South Australians in the significant cost-of-living relief – and encouraged those who hadn’t yet visited the SA Water estimator to do so as soon as possible.
“We are delighted that so many hardworking families and businesses are logging onto the SA Water website to estimate their water bill savings from July 1,” said Premier Marshall.
“It’s a simple, straight-forward process that takes only a few minutes, but will provide important information and peace of mind as households and businesses prepare their budgets for the new financial year.”
Among the tens of thousands of local businesses who will benefit from the savings is Heyne’s Nurseries, which, as a high user of water will save up to $100,000 a year.
“By reducing costs for local businesses, we help them thrive and support local jobs,” said Premier Marshall.
Cheaper water bills are the latest in a range of cost-of-living relief measures delivered under the SA Government.
South Australians families are on average $660 a year better off thanks to massive reductions in water bills (an average $200 a year saving from July 1), cheaper ESL bills ($163.60), reduced car rego costs through lower CTP Insurance premiums ($200) and a doubling of sports vouchers for primary school-aged children’s swimming and other sports lessons (from $50 to $100).
